Fox Star Studios, Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. and Ajay Devgn Ffilms' Bol Bachchan (UA) is a comedy film inspired by the Amol Palekar starrer, Gol Maal.

The story is more an assemblage of comic incidents which keep coming one after another. Yunus Sajawal's sceenplay may not care much for logic but it has so many comic scenes and sequences that the audience doesn't really care for the absence of logic. Actually, the tone of the mad-hatter comedy is set right from the word 'go' and in and soon after the title song itself. Therefore, the viewers are prepared for a roller-coaster ride of crazy comedy to the exclusion of reasonableness. Adding greatly to the fun-filled drama are the superb dialogues, penned by Sajid-Farhad. In fact, credit for creating so much mirth goes as much to Sajawal as to Sajid-Farhad because it is often the choice of words, which creates/enhances the humour quotient.

The climax is good but seems a bit stretched, given the gravity of the situation (the car hanging from a cliff). It also lacks novelty. In that sense, the climax falls somewhat short of the rest of the drama. Besides, there are portions where the interest level dips but those are few.

Ajay Devgan acts with admirable ease and deserves kudos for a job extraordinarily done. He evokes laughter at so many places that he will be loved and adored by the audience. Abhishek Bachchan does well in the roles of Abhishek Bachchan and Abbas Ali. His dance presentation is a highlight. Asin Thottumkal gets limited scope. She is good. Prachi Desai also does not have much to do. She also performs ably. Krushna Abhishek is extraordinary. His comic sense of timing and dialogue delivery deserve special mention. Archna Pooran Singh is outstanding in the roles of Madhumati and Zoya.

Rohit Shetty deserves full marks for his courage of conviction to make a film with such a thin story-line and turn it into a veritable laugh-riot. Not only does he make many scenes memorable but also extracts wonderful performances from out of his actors. His sense of comedy is so excellent that it wouldn't be wrong to say that he has his finger on the pulse of the public. His sense of commercial cinema is enviable indeed! Music (Himesh Reshammiya and Ajay-Atul) could've been better.

On the whole, Bol Bachchan is a supremely enjoyable laugh-riot with Ajay Devgan, Krushna Abhishek, Archna Pooran Singh and Asrani being the four major highlights. It has tremendous repeat value too. Therefore it will prove to be a straight hit at the box-office, no questions asked.
