Believe It Or Not: Blockbuster Movies Rejected By Salman Khan

Certain decisions make or break a career. In Bollywood, same could be said of actors who got left behind in the race to stardom. However, it won’t be fair to think that the already established and those at the top of the ladder are flawless.

There exist only a few hearts which have not been claimed by the Dabangg guy, Salman Khan. Given his popularity in the industry, it is hard to believe that our beloved Bhai turned down these roles:

Baazigar [1993]

Baazigar Baazigar established Shah Rukh Khan as a noteworthy actor in Bollywood. It was perhaps one of his best performances till date, and got the universe swinging for him. However, Sallu Bhai was the first choice of the director duo Abbas-Mastan, but as fate may have had it, SRK won the accolades.

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge [1995]

Another movie that Salman Khan refused which went on to become a blockbuster hit! Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) still continues to occupy millions of hearts, along with a dedicated slot at Mumbai’s iconic Maratha Mandir for over 20 years!

Josh [2000]

Who could think Salman Khan would turn down the role of Max Dias, the rough and rash guy for whom fighting was a way of life! Whether it was the clashing dates, or the thought of playing Aishwarya’s brother got hold of him, we will never know!

Kal Ho Naa Ho [2003]

Salman Khan was offered the role of the ‘second guy’ in the movie, and perhaps the thought of being just a supporting actor (alongside SRK) got the better of him, and the role went to Saif Ali Khan!

Chak De! India [2007]

SRK’s critically-acclaimed role was not made for him in the first place! Who could think Salman would turn down this offer which will go on to become an achievement worth noting of his own arch-rival?

Ghajini [2008]

Most of the Bhai’s rejected movies have gone to SRK, however, Ghajini begs to differ. By now it has been established that Salman Khan had literally shooed away opportunities to prove his acting mettle and dropped them in the hand of his not-so-good-friends.
